Test Twenty aims to become the fourth official format in international cricket alongside Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. This hybrid format features matches played over 80 overs in a single day, with each team batting twice in two innings of 20 overs each. The game preserves all traditional results including win, loss, tie, and draw, offering fans the full emotional range of Test cricket but within a fast-paced, broadcast-friendly environment.
Test Twenty was conceptualized by Gaurav Bahirvani, Executive Chairman of The One One Six Network, and has received backing from cricket legends like AB de Villiers, Harbhajan Singh, Sir Clive Lloyd, and Matthew Hayden. The format is designed particularly for young players aged 13 to 19, with its first championship scheduled for January 2026. It incorporates advanced technology such as AI-driven scouting to identify the best emerging talent globally.
Six international franchises, half from India and half global, will participate, each with 16 players selected through a data-driven process called the Test Twenty Intelligence Index (TTII).This format uniquely blends the narrative and tactical elements of Test cricket with the intensity and brevity of T20 cricket, making it appealing to fans who appreciate both styles. Matches allow strategic elements like power plays and follow-ons, ensuring depth while keeping the action concise. It is positioned as a global talent incubator and broadcast-friendly spectacle to attract modern audiences, providing players a platform to showcase skills and temperament under competitive pressure.
